The University of Minnesota’s Center for Transportation Studies is an independent department created to foster collaboration between University faculty and State and Federal Departments of Transportation. The Center provides research, education, and outreach programs, including disciplines such as engineering, planning, economics, public policy, computer science, human factors, and environmental studies.
Collaborative Design Group provided interior design and architecture for the renovation of their existing space. The center required interior offices that remained flexible, while still offering privacy. Demountable walls were chosen for their ability to accommodate change in working conditions. This system provides maximum privacy while retaining a sense of openness, effective air conditioning flow, and lighting diffusion, all while being installed over existing floor coverings and providing closure to the ceiling.
