Melrose Apartments is a national student housing prototype, catering to students attending nearby universities and colleges. This residential community is ideally located near bike paths and metro bus lines and is two blocks east of the University of Minnesota’s east bank campus.
The nine-story, 523,000 sf, 278-unit building houses more than 900 residents in four towers. The two-, three-, or four-bedroom units all have a separate bathroom for each bedroom, and share a common living area. Designed to eliminate long hallways and provide security and privacy, each of the towers are accessible by separate elevator banks. This fast-track design build schedule allowed a year and a half for design through project completion. The building includes underground parking for the residents, an interior private courtyard, lounge, game room, fitness center, study rooms, coffee shop, and theater.
